Furniture should be as much a pleasure to use, as it is to admire. I start by determining the role the item will play within its space - visually, aesthetically and functionally. I may create the solution myself, or occasionally together with my fellow designer Pat Booth, working with materials from wood to fabrics, glass, ceramics and metal. Sometimes I work hands on; when a project requires, however, I employ the skills of a range of specialist colleagues, to bring every detail of the creative vision to life.
